The U.S. Marshals Service arrested an Everett man Wednesday at the request of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina where he is accused of war crimes.
The U.S. attorney's office in Seattle says 39-year-old Edin Dzeko is held for extradition.
The extradition request alleges that in April 1993 Dzeko was a senior staff member of a Bosnian Army unit that attacked the village of Trusina, where sixteen civilians were killed. He also is accused of being a member of an execution squad that killed a number of civilians and Croatian Defense Council soldiers who had been captured and disarmed by Bosnian forces.
Dzeko immigrated to the United States in 2001 and became a naturalized citizen in 2006.
