US Martial Arts Center of Olympia was among four Washington businesses that won a Secretary of State “Corporations for Communities Award.”

The award honors Washington businesses that give back to the community.

US Martial Arts Center was nominated for raising about $75,000 to support the Olympia and North Thurston Education Foundation. It also provided free programs on fitness, bully awareness and active shooter safety to schools. Employees also volunteer in the community and it requires that those seeking a Black Belt volunteer at the Thurston County Food Bank.

GHB Insurance and Stormans Inc., both of Olympia, received honor roll certificates for their community efforts.

Stormans operates the Bayview and Ralph’s Thriftway stores in Olympia.
