The state Department of Ecology is set to hire hundreds of teens, ages 14-17, this summer to pick up roadside litter throughout the state.

Before you complain, the Ecology Youth Corps jobs pay $11.50 per hour, and those that are hired typically work on a crew near their home, according to an Ecology news release.

In summer 2017, youth crews cleaned more than 5,000 miles of roads and picked up more than 1.1 million pounds of litter.

Applications are being accepted now at www.ecology.wa.gov/eyc. Applications are due by early April.
