Upcoming consignment event grows

A bigger-than-ever Just Between Friends consignment sale is back at the Puyallup Fair & Events Center this weekend.

In these trying economic times, the twice-yearly sale of used maternity and children’s gear – from clothes and toys to strollers – has garnered a lot of interest, said Allison Stephens, owner of JBF Tacoma.

“Once people learned about it, it really caught on,” Stephens said.

She expects this weekend’s sale to generate 2,500 transactions, or more than double the 1,000 at the first sale last spring. There are 250 consignors – more than triple the 79 at the first event.

Just Between Friends is a franchise with consignment sale events around the country. Stephens paid $10,500 for an automated tagging and payment system, a website and a banner to place outside the event.

The sale runs Friday through Sunday at the Puyallup Fair & Events Center.

Doors open at 9 a.m. Friday for first-time parents and military families. The sale opens to the general public at noon. Free admission passes and more information about the sale are at   tacoma.
