Macy's and negotiators for United Food and Commercial Workers Union Local 367 begin mediated negotiations Friday in an attempt to reach a contract settlement for workers at Macy's Tacoma Mall store.
The two sides have been negotiating for six months without reaching an agreement.
The union claims the retailer wants a contract that would eliminate commissions and pay new workers the minimum wage. Macy’s representatives were unavailable for comment Monday afternoon.
The union has instituted an informational picket campaign with workers marching outside the store on their breaks and before and after work. The picketers carry signs asking shoppers to boycott Macy’s.
