Alaska adds nonstop service to St. Louis

Alaska Airlines will add a daily non stop flight to St. Louis from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport this fall.

Alaska plans to offer introductory fares of $109 one-way for flights between Sept. 27, the first day of the new service, and Nov. 17. Those tickets must be purchased by July 1, the airline said.

The new flight is the latest piece of Alaska’s eastward route expansion. In the past two years, the airline has also inaugurated new routes westward from the West Coast to Hawaii.

Alaska will compete with Southwest Airlines, now St. Louis’ largest carrier, which has a single daily non stop between Puget Sound and St. Louis.

St. Louis airport officials have offered new airlines incentives to establish service from the airport, including reduced landing fees and rent and promotional help.
