David Graybill, president and CEO of the Tacoma-Pierce County Chamber, will retire at the end of the year.
Graybill, who has held the position for 27 years, made the announcement to his staff and board of directors Wednesday. He plans to stay in the area .
Chamber chairman-elect Mike Hansch, former head of Bank of Tacoma and now major and planned gifts officer with Tacoma Goodwill, said Thursday that a search committee is being formed to find Graybill’s successor.
“He did absolutely a fantastic job. The chamber accomplished a lot over his tenure,” Hansch said.
Graybill said he “would be on board through the end of the calendar year to help our leadership be assured of a successful transition.”
