Washington state plans to install charging stations along U.S. Highway 2 across the Cascades to allow electric vehicles to travel between western and central Washington.
The state Transportation and Commerce departments say they will use federal Recovery Act money to set up two to three fast-charging stations by the end of the year. The locations are still to be determined.
In addition, the Port of Chelan County is working with a consortium to install chargers at Wenatchee, Leavenworth and Stevens Pass. A network of chargers also is being set up in the Seattle area and along the Interstate 5 corridor.
