The Great Recovery is alive in the hotel industry.
Bellevue hospitality consultant Wolfgang Rood reports in his latest monthly compilation that November saw a 12.2 percent increase in occupancy statewide as compared with the same month in 2009.
In Pierce County, occupancy was up 15.2 percent, with 64.3 percent of rooms taken. Only Downtown Seattle, with 66 percent of rooms occupied, showed a higher rate.
All regions of the state marked an increase in occupancy.
The average cost of a room rose 0.1 percent statewide, to $108.03; and 0.2 percent in Pierce County, to $95.68.
Washington neighbors also saw an increase in occupancy in November, with Oregon’s rate up 10.2 percent and Idaho ahead by 13.5 percent from the year before.
