West Coast commercial real estate firm Kidder Mathews has dropped GVA from its name and its operations.
Jeff Lyon, the CEO of the Seattle-based firm that has an office on Pacific Avenue in Tacoma, told News Tribune readers in July that this was coming. The GVA Worldwide network of commercial firms “has diminished significantly in North America over the last 18 months,” a news release announcing the change said this week.
Kidder Mathews has nine offices and 400 brokers and other staff members in Washington, Oregon and California. It was founded in 1969.
The release also said Kidder Mathews will be doing some hiring in research, data and marketing support areas.
Now that the firm is independent, Lyon said Friday, it needs to beef up some things. “We can’t rely on anybody. We have to rely solely on ourselves” for market information and intelligence, Lyon said.
