The Washington state Employment Security Department says Penguin Windows has laid off 160 workers in the Puget Sound area and will eliminate about 200 more jobs.
The Mukilteo, Wash.-based company wouldn't comment Wednesday on the report but said a statement was planned soon.
Penguin has offices in Snohomish, Pierce and Clark counties.
Karen Campbell of Employment Security told the Daily Herald that the 160 workers laid off Tuesday lost jobs at facilities in Mukilteo and Lynnwood, as well as Lakewood near Tacoma. She said 50 more will be laid off at those sites on March 14 - and 156 more will be laid off in Vancouver after that.
She said didn't know how many people worked at each facility.
