A teen was detained by Tumwater police Wednesday morning after he allegedly made a violent threat via social media that was directed at New Market Skills Center.

The school and nearby buildings, including Tumwater Timberland library and its service center, were locked down. The lockdown was unrelated to the report of an active shooter at the state Capitol Campus.

Tumwater Sgt. Jen Kolb said about 10:30 a.m. Wednesday that the lockdown has been lifted.

The teen allegedly said he had a gun and was on the New Market Skills Center campus, but it turned out he was not on campus and did not have a real gun, Kolb said.

Police are still trying to determine whether a crime has been committed, she said.
