A man shot his brother, then turned the gun on himself in Lewis County early Sunday evening. The shootings occurred after Lewis County Sheriff’s Office deputies and others rescued the brothers’ sister from a 50-foot well.
According to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office:
About 4:15 p.m. Sunday, deputies and fire personnel were dispatched to the 600 block of Tennessee Road in Winlock to help a 63-year-old woman who had fallen into a well while she was trying to add chlorine to it. She was ultimately freed from the well and taken to a hospital for treatment.
However, during the rescue efforts, her two brothers, a 56-year-old Winlock man and a 59-year-old Malone man, showed up and began to argue. The older brother was asked to leave, which he did.
But he returned about 6:30 p.m. Sunday with a handgun, and shot his younger brother multiple times before shooting himself.
A Lewis County Coroner is set to do an autopsy this week.
