Video: Black Hills and River Ridge Girls in the state semifinals

River Ridge got out to an early lead against Black Hills and never relented against their 2A Evergreen rival, getting a revenge win since losing in the league championship to the Wolves. Sophie Russell led the Hawks with 11 points and three blocks while Krystal Smith added 10 points and seven rebounds.

For the poor shooting Wolves, Pia Menkertz scored 11 points and pulled down six rebounds. Black Hills shot only 20 percent from the field (11-for-55) including 2-of-15 from 3-point range.

Establishing a 19-10 lead early, River Ridge shut Black Hills offense down and now go on to face another 2A Evergreen foe in Tumwater for the state championship.

The game will be at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Tacoma Dome.

Black Hills will face East Valley at 1:30 p.m. in the game for third place.
