Capitol Rotunda Memorial Day Ceremony starts at 10:30 a.m. Monday with music by the American Legion Band, Capitol Rotunda inside the Legislative building on the Capitol Campus. Hosted by Thurston County Veterans Council. Ceremony begins at 11 a.m. with a cannon salute by American Legion Post 166 Cannoneers. 360-888-8211.

The POW/MIA Group will gather at noon Monday at the Vietnam War memorial at the Capitol Campus to release 39 black balloons in honor of the 39 soldiers from Washington who fought in Vietnam and still are missing. People will start gathering about 11 a.m., and the event will feature a number of speakers.

Woodlawn Funeral Home and Cemetery, along with the American Legion Post 94, will present the annual Memorial Day observance tribute at 4: 30 p.m. Monday, Woodlawn Cemetery, 5930 Mullen Road S.E., Lacey. Music by the American Legion Band starts at 4 p.m. 360-491-3000.

26th annual Memorial Day observance, 2 p.m. Monday, Mills & Mills Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 5725 Littlerock Road S.W., Tumwater. Featuring Mayor Ralph Osgood as master of ceremonies. Tumwater Memorial Day Celebration begins at 12: 30 p.m. Monday, Odd Fellows Memorial Park, 3802 Cleveland Ave. S.E., Tumwater. Tribute includes a cannon salute by Tumwater American Legion Post 166, the national anthem sung by the Sweet Adelines, and posting of the colors by the Washington State Patrol Honor Guard.
