Death at bus station deemed suspicious

OLYMPIA - Police are investigating the death of a Guatemalan national from Shelton whose body was found outside the Greyhound bus station Tuesday morning at 107 Seventh Ave. S.E., according to the Olympia Police Department and the Thurston County Coroner's Office.

Officers arrived about 2:30 a.m. and found the body of a middle-age man with obvious signs of trauma, the release says.

Detectives and representatives from the coroner's office were summoned because of the suspicious nature of the death.

Thurston County Coroner Gary Warnock said Tuesday that the autopsy has found the man died of homicidal violence. He said he could not be more specific because he does not want to jeopardize the police investigation.

The coroner's office was trying to identify the man through his fingerprints, Warnock said.

Detectives are not disclosing details of the trauma while the death remains under investigation, Cmdr. Tor Bjornstad said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Olympia Police Department at 360-753-8400 or 360-753-8205.
