A fire chief estimated the damage from a blaze that destroyed a Chehalis truss and beam manufacturing business at $15 million.
The three-alarm fire that broke out Wednesday night at the Cascade Structural Laminators plant was out Thursday, but Lewis County Fire District 6 Chief Bud Goodwillie said firefighters were monitoring hot spots. The business, known as the Chehalis Lam plant, had about 15 workers.
More than 50 firefighters from six department responded, Goodwillie said. There were no injuries.
The cause of the fire was under investigation. The state Ecology Department is assessing about 500 pounds of laminating glue that washed into a ditch with contaminated water from the fire.
