Capital High School junior Vamsi Chunduru was sworn in Monday night as the student representative to the Olympia School Board.
The Olympia School District has one student representative on its board. Avanti, Capital and Olympia high schools rotate the job of sending a student representative. Next Year, Olympia High School will select the student.
The student representative sits with the board during meetings and can participate in discussion like a board member, though the student’s vote does not count officially.
Outgoing student representative David Hoekje of Avanti High School also was honored for his year of serving in the role. Chunduru is scheduled to serve until June 14, 2010.
