Steilacoom Mayor Ron Lucas on Thursday ordered that flags on city buildings remain at half staff through Tuesday to honor a local soldier killed in Afghanistan.
He encouraged residents to do the same in memory of Lt. Brian Bradshaw, 24. He died June 25 in Kheyl, Afghanistan, after an improvised explosive device went off near him.
Gov. Chris Gregoire directed flags on public buildings be lowered Wednesday to honor Bradshaw, who grew up in Steilacoom and graduated from Bellarmine Preparatory School and Pacific Lutheran University.
Bradshaw was assigned to 1st Battalion, 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment, 4th Airborne Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division in Fort Richardson, Alaska.
