South Sound Center’s 43rd annual Independence Day Celebration: Music by the American Legion Band from 7 to 9 p.m.; fireworks start at dusk (about 10:15 p.m.) today in the South Sound Center parking lot at 711 Sleater-Kinney Road S.E. in Lacey. Tumwater’s Fourth of July Parade, Artesian Family Festival and Thunder Valley Fireworks Show: Parade starts at 11 a.m.; gates open for the festival at 6 p.m.; fireworks start at 10:15 p.m. Saturday at the Tumwater Valley Golf Course, 4611 Tumwater Valley Drive S.E. Summerfest Celebration: A variety of events take place between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. Saturday at Borst Park, 902 Johnson Road, Centralia, and a parade starts at 4 p.m. in downtown Centralia. Live music starts at 5 p.m., a Destruction Derby starts at 7 p.m. and fireworks begin about 10:30 p.m. at the Southwest Washington Fairgrounds, 2555 N. National Ave., Chehalis. Fort Lewis Freedom Fest: Festivities start at 11 a.m. Saturday at Cowan Stadium on the post. The public must enter through the DuPont gate at Exit 119 off Interstate 5. Tacoma Freedom Fair: Activities begin at 10 a.m. Saturday along Ruston Way in Tacoma. Highlights include a classic car show from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; the USAA Tacoma Air Show from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.; and the fireworks extravaganza at 10:10 p.m. For a schedule, go to www.freedomfair.com.

“Celebrating Our Declaration of Independence” Fourth of July Celebration: Event starts with the Traditional Old Time Parade at 11 a.m. Saturday in Oakville.
