In honor of crime prevention awareness and neighborhood unity, Aug. 4 will mark National Night Out. Neighborhoods are invited to join thousands of communities nationwide for the annual event.
National Night Out aims to increase awareness for crime and drug abuse prevention, gain support for and participation in local anti-crime efforts, enhance neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships, and make criminals aware of the steps neighborhoods have taken to maintain safe communities.
The Olympia Police Department would like citizens to host neighborhood gatherings as part of the event.
Police and volunteers will visit and bring registered participants materials related to crime prevention.
To register a neighborhood, contact the Police Community Programs office at firstname.lastname@example.org or 360-753-8049 by Tuesday.
