To mark National Public Lands Day on Saturday, the commissioner of public lands and the state Department of Natural Resources have organized volunteer events at three areas in Western Washington, including the Mima Mounds Natural Area Preserve in Thurston County.
At the Mima Mounds event, workers and volunteers will clear Scotch broom and other invasive plants and repair trails from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Contact Roberta Davenport at 360-577-2025 or firstname.lastname@example.org for information.
Other events will be at West Tiger Mountain Natural Resources Conservation Area in King County and Yacolt Burn State Forest in Clark County.
