A woman was arrested Friday night after she allegedly took a man's wallet while he was at Red Wind Casino located in the 12000 block of Yelm Highway Southeast, according to the Thurston County Sheriff's Office.
Kathleen Autumn Joy Jones, 31, of Olympia was booked at the Thurston County Jail on suspicion of second-degree theft, second-degree identity theft and unlawful possession of methamphetamine, said Thurston County Sheriff’s Lt. Chris Mealy.
Sheriff’s deputies were called out to the casino to review surveillance footage after a man said he lost his wallet while he was at the casino, Mealy said. On the surveillance footage, deputies saw a woman kick the man’s wallet out from under where he was standing after it had dropped to the ground, he said. The woman then picked up the wallet and left, he said.
Deputies recognized the woman as Jones, and visited her at her address. When deputies arrived at her residence, she denied involvement in the theft. Deputies placed her under arrest because she had an active warrant for her arrest, Mealy said. When deputies looked in Jones’ purse, they found a $4 receipt that indicated she had used a credit card belonging to the man who had lost his wallet. Deputies also located a substance that tested positive for methamphetamine, Mealy said.
