Subway shop robbed at gunpoint

A lone gunman robbed the Subway sandwich shop in a shopping plaza in the 3000 block of Pacific Avenue early Monday morning, but no one was hurt, according to Olympia police.

Witnesses said a man entered the store about 8:30 a.m., brandished a handgun and demanded money, said Olympia police Sgt. Paul Johnson. Two employees were in the store, he said.

The suspect ran away and is at large, Johnson said.

The suspect is described as white, about 60 to 65 years old, about 6 foot 1 and slender, with a gaunt face. He was wearing a pullover navy blue sweatshirt.

Johnson said police are looking at other local municipalities to see if they have had any robberies with similar suspect descriptions.

Anyone with information should call the Olympia Police Department at 360-753-8300 or Crime Stoppers at 360-493-2222.
