Arraignment delayed in slaying

A Lakewood man appeared in court Thursday but his arraignment on a first-degree murder charge in the shooting of his ex-wife at a Federal Way church was delayed a week.

King County prosecutors allege Charles L. Parsons, 41, killed his ex-wife, Carol Parsons, 38, during a counseling session March 17.

At the request of an attorney for Parsons, King County Superior Court Judge Sharon Armstrong put off the arraignment until April 8.

Parsons is being held on $5 million bail. If convicted, he could be sentenced to 25 to 31 years in prison.
