An Olympia man died after crashing Sunday at the Pacific Raceways track in southeast King County, the King County Sheriff's Office reported Tuesday.
The 62-year-old man was doing practice laps on a motorcycle on the course about 10:30 a.m. Sunday.
“He came out of a straight away at high speed and into a curve, but lost control of his Honda CB950 as it began to slide on its side,” according to a news release from the Sheriff’s Office. “The cycle left the roadway and collided with a tire barrier.”
The man was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where he died.
The race, sponsored by the Washington Motorcycle Road Racing Association, was canceled and the track shut down.
The Sheriff’s Office has launched an investigation.
