Oakville: Man reportedly airlifted after chase, crash

An Olympia man suffered internal chest trauma Sunday morning near Oakville after crashing a pickup that was reported stolen, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Troopers said Cody Lloyd, 22, of Olympia was driving a 1997 GMC pickup west around 8 a.m. on state Route 12 three miles west of Oakville when a Grays Harbor County deputy noticed that the vehicle had been reported stolen, according to the State Patrol. The deputy tried to overtake the pickup, and Lloyd crashed the truck into a tree when he tried to turn in to an entrance of Capitol State Forest at Milepost 32, according to troopers.

The crash was caused by speeding, according to the State Patrol. Lloyd was reportedly taken by helicopter to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, but a nursing supervisor said no one by that name was listed as a patient. No further information was available from the Washington State Patrol about whether anyone faces charges in connection with the vehicle reported stolen.
