Projects likely to slow traffic this week

The following projects are expected to affect traffic in the coming week, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.

DuPont: Removal of a median traffic island will close the left lane on the Center Drive overpass at Interstate 5 from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. today through Wednesday.

Eatonville: Utility work will close a lane of state Route 161 from the city limits to Orville Road East. The work will be done from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. today through Thursday.

Interstate 5: An $8.4 million project that involves replacing concrete panels and installing supporting dowel bars will affect traffic at various times on I-5 from Martin Way in Lacey to 48th Street in Tacoma. Northbound lanes from Martin Way to Nisqually will be closed from 7 p.m.-5 a.m. daily today through Thursday, 7 p.m. Friday to 11 a.m. Saturday, and 7 p.m. Saturday to noon Sunday. Southbound lanes from Mounts Road to Martin Way will be closed from 7 p.m.-5 a.m. daily today through Wednesday.

Joint Base Lewis-McChord: Tree removal will close a lane of state Route 507 from Fort Lewis Access Road to East Gate Road. The work will be done from 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. today and Tuesday.

Olympia: Tree limb removal will close the right lane of southbound U.S. 101 at Black Lake Boulevard from 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Wednesday.

South Thurston County: Single-lane closures are set for 8 p.m.-5 a.m. today through Friday on I-5 from 113th Avenue Southwest to Lewis County. Rolling slowdowns are expected on that stretch of northbound I-5 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. daily and on southbound I-5 from 6-10 a.m. daily.

West Thurston County: Cable barrier installation will close the left lane and shoulders on state Route 8 from Elma to U.S. 101. The work will be done from 7 a.m.-5:30 p.m. daily.
