THURSTON COUNTY: 'Rise of Modern Indian Nations' event set

A lecture and discussion titled - The Rise of Modern Indian Nations' sponsored by the South Puget Sound Community College Office of Student Life and the Anthropology Club is set for noon to 1 p.m., Thursday, in Building 26, Room 105 on the SPSCC campus.

The free event, open to the public, features University of Colorado Law School professor Charles Wilkinson, author of “Messages from Frank’s Landing” which examines the life of Billy Frank Jr. and other South Sound Indian activists involved in the Western Washington treaty fishing rights battles that led to the Boldt Decision.

Also presenting will be Native American rights activist Hank Adams and Willie Frank, a Nisqually Indian councilman and son of Billy Frank Jr.
