University Place: Officials identify 3-year-old killed on trike

The Pierce County Medical Examiner's Office on Tuesday identified the 3-year-old girl who was run over and killed while riding her tricycle Monday in University Place.

Saniah Marcus died on the way to Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital and Health Center.

Sheriff’s investigators said the death appeared to be an accident.

She was killed when her mother’s 25-year-old fiancé pulled out of the driveway in the 9100 block of Madrone Circle West and didn’t see Saniah, who was in front of the SUV on the driver’s side.

The PTA at Sunset Primary School has established a donation account to help Saniah’s family with medical and memorial costs. Two of her siblings attend the University Place school.

Donations can be made at any Columbia Bank branch to the “Donation account for Saniah Marcus.”
