Police have booked two teens into juvenile detention after they sprayed lighter fluid on another teen and set his shirt on fire.
The teens were booked on Friday night for investigation of second-degree assault, The Daily News reported.
The victim rolled on the ground to put out the flames. The boy, 14, was not injured except for singed hair.
The incident happened outside of Coweeman Middle School. Court documents say the boy who was burned told police that a 14-year-old sprayed him with lighter fluid and a 15-year-old threw a lit match on him.
Court documents say the boys arrested told police they spotted the victim outside the school while walking and decided to light him on fire to scare him. Both parties say there is history between the teens.
