Poor weather conditions halted the search Sunday for a climber missing after an avalanche Saturday morning on Mount Rainier.
Eleven climbers in several teams were caught in a slab avalanche at 4:45 a.m. on the Ingraham Direct climbing route on the mountain’s southeast side.
Ten have been accounted for, said Mount Rainier National Park spokeswoman Patti Wold.
Two people pulled from the avalanche were injured but were in stable condition Saturday night at Madigan Army Medical Center.
The missing man, who was climbing alone, is presumed dead. He did not fill out a registration card to ascend the mountain, and officials are focusing on identifying the man, Wold said.
A Hughes 530 helicopter contracted from Northwest Helicopters conducted an aerial search Saturday and did not spot the missing climber.
