Puyallup police are searching for burglars who are using ladders to climb onto the second-story balconies of apartments.
Commanders have assigned detectives and officers to work the cases after noting a recent increase in residential burglaries.
The burglars are mainly targeting first- and second-floor apartment units.
“The common method of entry has been through rear sliding glass doors, utilizing a ladder to gain access to second-story balconies,” the department reported. “Some of the victim apartments were occupied during the burglaries.”
Officers asked residents to make sure their windows and doors are locked. They suggested using sticks or other devices in the windows and sliding glass doors to prevent them from being pried open.
