An Abbotsford, B .C., man accused of slashing his stepdaughter's throat pleaded not guilty Monday at his arraignment in Mason County Superior Court in Shelton.
Twenty-nine-year-old Peter James Wilson remains held on $3 million bail, awaiting trial.
He’s charged with firstdegree murder in the June 27 death of Clare L. Shelswell.
Court documents say Wilson and his wife were arguing about child discipline at a house they were visiting near Lake Cushman when he told her he would “take care of it.” Sheriff’s detectives said Wilson took the girl downstairs. They said his wife heard screaming and found her daughter in a pool of blood.
Wilson told investigators he is on medication for bipolar disorder.
