Conservation board seeks help

The Thurston Conservation District board of supervisors seeks candidates to fill a volunteer position.

Applicants must be Thurston County residents registered within the conservation district boundaries. Preferably, candidates will be involved in agriculture, forestry or aquaculture and live in the Yelm, Rainier or East Olympia areas.

Applications are due to the state Conservation Commission by Aug. 16. For more information and to obtain forms, contact the district office at 360-754-3588.

Tannija J. Smith, 24, of Aberdeen, was identified Monday as the woman who died in a wreck on state Route 8 in Thurston County, according to the Washington State Patrol.
