A Federal Way police officer called to a burglary at a home Tuesday fired at the getaway van.
It was not known whether anyone was hit by the gunfire.
Police were called to a home in the 2100 block of Southwest 326th Street about 1:35 p.m. after a juvenile caller said two men were in the residence. Two men were leaving the home as an officer arrived.
One man complied with the officer’s order to stop; the second man ran to a waiting van with a woman in the passenger seat, police said. The man drove the van at the officer, who fired multiple shots at the vehicle, police said.
The man and woman escaped in a maroon 1998 Ford Aerostar van, which later was found abandoned in Federal Way.
There was no description of the man and woman.
The officer, a 24-year law enforcement veteran, was not hurt and was placed on administrative leave, which is standard procedure when a police officer fires a weapon.
Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call 253-835-6891.
