The final public tour of the Mud Bay archaeology site at the farm of Ralph and Karen Munro, 5041 Houston Road, Olympia, is set for 1 p.m. Thursday. Families and children are welcome.
For more than 10 years, the Munros have partnered with the Squaxin Island Tribe and South Puget Sound Community College on an archaeological excavation that has uncovered hundreds of artifacts from a centuries-old tribal fishing camp.
Directions to the site are as follows: From U.S. Highway 101, take The Evergreen State College-Mud Bay Road exit and travel north on Evergreen Parkway Northwest. Turn left on 17th Avenue Northwest. In 0.4 mile, turn left on Houston Road to the Munro farm.
Tour participants should wear casual clothes and comfortable shoes for the half-mile walk to the site over flat terrain.
