A worldwide audience will be watching this morning when the 11- and 12-year-olds of the Auburn Little League team play in the opening game of the 64th Little League Baseball World Series.
The matchup pits the Northwest Regional champions against a team from Fairfield, Conn. The game will be broadcast live at 10 a.m. on ESPN.
“It’s been the thrill of a lifetime, just watching these young men just grow in the past month,” said Steve Byorick, whose son Hudson is on the team.
In all, 16 teams – eight from the U.S. and eight from around the world – will compete in the tournament, which runs through Aug. 29.
