A 26-year-old man was killed in a single-car crash at 3148 Marvin Road S.E. in Olympia Saturday morning around 3:45 a.m. The Thurston County Coroner's Office identified him as Christopher Castanares of Olympia.

According to the State Patrol report:

Castanares was driving a 2008 Mercedes C300 southbound on Marvin Road when he failed to negotiate a curve, lost control and left the roadway smashing into a tree. He died at the scene.

He was not reported to be wearing a seat belt. The Patrol said both speed and alcohol are believed to be the causes of the accident. The Mercedes was totaled in the crash.
