Police seeking man in assault-robbery

Tacoma police were searching Monday for a man who robbed and pistol-whipped a pizza restaurant employee in the West End.

The robber confronted an employee of Little Caesars Pizza, 5916 N. 26th St., in the parking lot just before 9 a.m., police spokesman Mark Fulghum said. He forced the employee inside at gunpoint and demanded all the money from the restaurant.

The robber hit the employee in the face with the gun and left the store with an undisclosed amount of money, Fulghum said.

A police dog searched but did not find the robber. The employee was treated at the scene and then taken to a local hospital for further evaluation, Fulghum said.

The robber was described as black and 20 to 25 years old. He wore a dark blue sweatshirt and black pants and had a dark rag over his face.

Tacoma-Pierce County Crime Stoppers is offering up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest and charges filed in the robbery. Tipsters can remain anonymous. Reach Crime Stoppers at 253-591-5959.
