Crash flips horse trailer; people, animal uninjured

A horse trapped in a trailer after an accident on I-5 near Marysville was rescued by Marysville firefighters using hydraulic equipment known as the Jaws of Life.

Washington State Trooper Keith Leary told The Herald newspaper that a woman, who apparently was driving her car at about 80 mph fell asleep and clipped the back of the trailer.

The force of the Friday morning collision caused the trailer to separate from the pickup at freeway speeds. The trailer flipped onto its left side, with the horse inside.

Leary says the accident could have been a lot worse: No one was injured, not even the horse.
