Police investigate body found in wooded area

The body of a 50-year-old woman was found Sunday morning in a wooded area near Plum Street and Henderson Boulevard Southeast, according to the Olympia Police Department.

Police arrived on scene at 6:48 a.m. after receiving a call about the body, said Olympia police Sgt. Dan Smith.

The Thurston County Coroner’s Office and Olympia police detectives were on the scene Sunday morning, Smith said.

The cause of death was unknown pending an autopsy. As of Sunday afternoon, family members had not been reached, according to the Coroner’s Office.
