Mudsnails dry up fishing at Capitol Lake

Capitol Lake will be closed to all fishing until further notice, according to the state Department of Fish and Wildlife.

The move was prompted by the spread of New Zealand mudsnails, an invasive species in the lake, according to the department.

Mudsnails can be transported on such things as shoes, a dog’s paw and fishing gear. The lake was closed to salmon fishing earlier this year.
