Man killed by Tacoma police was transient, 64

Tacoma - The Pierce County Medical Examiner's Office Tuesday released the name of the man killed Friday during a confrontation with two Tacoma police officers.

Richard Sims, 64, a transient, died of a gunshot wound to the chest, the office said.

Also Tuesday, the police released the names of the two officers involved in the deadly shooting. They are Arthur Richwald, 41, an 11-year veteran of the agency, and Dustin Myhre, 26, a two-year veteran, police spokesman Mark Fulghum said.
