Puyallup man killed in crash after running red light

A Puyallup man died Tuesday after running a red light and hitting another vehicle, police said.

Shannon LeFao, 25, was coming from the exit ramp of eastbound state Route 512 when he failed to stop at a red light and hit another vehicle traveling north on Ninth Street Southwest, police said.

Officers arrived about 4:15 a.m. and found LeFao dead at the scene. The other driver was treated for minor injuries at St. Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma and released.

Ninth Street Southwest between 39th Avenue Southwest and South Hill Park Drive Southwest was closed in both directions, as was the exit ramp of eastbound state Route 512 at Ninth, while the accident was investigated.

The South Hill Mall entrance off of Ninth also was closed.

The streets were reopened shortly after 10 a.m.
