5 teens charged in bus attack

Five teens accused of attacking a young couple on a Metro bus in Seattle have been charged.

Court documents say they took an MP3 player from a 17-year-old, Jessica M. Redmon-Beckstead, and her boyfriend, Jason Decoste, on Nov. 19 and then beat and kicked them in an attack caught on surveillance video.

The Seattle Times reports that when the boyfriend told them to stop because his girlfriend was pregnant, one said they weren’t hitting her stomach, just her face. Redmon-Beckstead suffered a cut above her left eye that required six stitches.

The bus driver pulled over and called police.

A 19-year-old, Ayana Sharee Cain, has been charged with second-degree assault. Four younger teens have been charged in juvenile court with robbery.
