State changes process for permit to cut wood

Effective Jan. 1, the state Department of Natural Resources will change the firewood-cutting permit-application process in the Pacific Cascade Region, including forested trust lands in Thurston, Lewis and southern Grays Harbor counties.

According to a news release from the agency:

The most significant change is eliminating the permit waiting list. Permits now will be available on a firstcome, first-served basis through DNR’s website
