Woman killed, 5 hurt in 2-car wreck on U.S. 101

A Shelton woman was killed and five Olympia family members suffered abrasions in a crash at 5 p.m. Wednesday on U.S. Highway 101 about 4 miles north of Shelton, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Also according to the State Patrol:

A 2006 Toyota Solara driven south by Kristen Roy, 40, spun on the highway at Brockdale Road and struck a southbound 2006 Honda Pilot driven by Marvy Muckian. Roy was killed, and Muckian, passenger Brian Muckian, and three children ages 4, 7 and 11 suffered abrasions and were taken to Mason General Hospital, then released.

It is not known whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash. No charges are expected to be filed. Both vehicles were destroyed.

The highway was fully blocked for about 2½ hours and partly blocked for an additional 41 minutes.
