The death certificate of 16-year-old Austin David Jon King, who was found dead last summer off a logging road outside of Morton, shows that he died of blunt impact to the head during an assault.
In early October, the Lewis County Coroner’s Office said King’s death was by homicide, but it declined to release additional information as prosecutors worked with the defense of the case’s suspect and allowed the defense to hire its own expert. The Coroner’s Office released King’s death certificate this week.
Jack Arnold Silverthorne, 20, of Renton is charged with first-degree murder for allegedly killing King on June 23. Silverthorne is scheduled to go to trial June 6 in Lewis County Superior Court.
King had been missing from his Morton home for nearly a month when his body was found July 20 off the side of a steep logging road about 10 miles outside Morton.
