KOMO-TV news anchor Kathi Goertzen underwent more than 10 hours of surgery Wednesday to remove parts of tumor that are growing in her brain. According to a KOMO report, doctors told Goertzen's family after the surgery, "We accomplished everything we hoped to accomplish."
Goertzen, a Washington State University graduate and popular Seattle television personality, has been battling the benign tumor for 11 years.
A post Thursday morning on a Facebook page for Goertzen said: “The News Director of KOMO just spoke to Kathi on the phone! She is doing well and was her usual funny and feisty self.”
Doctors expect Goertzen to remain in the intensive care unit at a Seattle hospital for two to three days.
